Offering a rare
account of his decade long illustrious cricket career, team India’s cricket
coach Ravi Shastri is slated to launch a book this summer. The book
will based on his cricket encounters from across the globe, reported news agency
PTI.

Co-written by sports journalist Ayaz Memon, the book will shed light on some of the undisclosed anecdotes and insights of Shastri’s cricket experiences.

“I’ve had the
privilege to play against, watch as well as commentate and now coach some of
the greatest cricketers to ever walk out on the pitch. I’m very pleased to be
sharing my stories, a glimpse into my exciting life involved with
cricket,” said Shastri while making the revelation.

The upcoming book, which would carry illustrations by
Shiva Rao, has been acquired by HarperCollins publishers on Sunday.

In the words of HarperCollins’
senior commissioning editor, Sonal Nerurkar, “from Champion of Champions to one
of the world’s top cricket commentators to India’s head coach, Ravi Shastri has
an incomparable perspective when it comes to the game of cricket.”

While unveiling some insights on the book, Diya Kar, publisher at HarperCollins India said that the book is a reflection of Shastri’s  deep love for the game, his observations and intimate accounts with his peers.

Shastri, who had also been a cricket commentator, made his
Test cricket debut over four decades ago and played against and partnered
legendary talents like Vivian Richards, Ian Botham, Sunil Gavaskar, Ricky
Ponting, Muttiah Muralitharan, Imran Khan and Sachin Tendulkar to name a few.
