Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown was charged with battery stemming from a domestic incident. An arrest warrant was issued against the 34-year-old, ABC reported.

Tampa Police Director of Communications Crystal Clark said that the incident occurred between him and an unidentified woman on Nov. 28.

Police told ESPN that Brown allegedly “threw a shoe” at the woman and locked her out of his home. During a standoff with authorities, Brown locked himself at home.

Brown has been the subject of multiple controversies during his time in the NFL.

Antonio Brown benched by Steelers

During the 2018 season, reports emerged that Brown had thrown a football at Ben Roethlisberger, and that he was mad at JuJu Smith-Schuster being named team MVP. Brown didn’t practice in the days before Week 17, due to what was listed as a knee injury. Coach Mike Tomlin said the benching was due to “injury and lack of information.”

Grievance against the NFL rejected

On August 12, 2019, Brown had his grievance against the NFL rejected by an arbitrator after reports said he stepped away from Raiders a week prior. The reason for his exit partly because he wanted to use his old helmet, which was no longer in accordance with the league’s safety guidelines.

Fighting with GM

Brown was fined nearly $54,000 for missing team workouts. Reports indicated that he lashed out at general manager Mike Mayock because he was unhappy with the fine.

Sued for sexual assault

Brown’s former trainer, Britney Taylor, accused him of raping her. A lawsuit was filed in which it was alleged that he sexually assaulted Taylor on three different occasions in 2017 and 2018.

The NFL launched an investigation into the matter.

A second woman came forward shortly after with another accusation of sexual assault.

Suspended eight games

Brown received an eight-game suspension from the NFL, for a separate incident in January 2020. He was in violation of the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy. 

Brown was arrested in January in connection to the attack of the driver of a moving company truck. He was handed down included burglary of a vehicle, misdemeanor battery, and misdemeanor criminal mischief.

Prison

In January 2020, Brown went to prison after being accused of the theft of a moving truck and assault against the driver. He was allegedly under the influence of a drug. His bail was posted four days later.

Suspension over fake vaccination card

Brown’s personal chef accused him of supplying the league with a fake vaccination card. An investigation was launched by NFL over his vaccination status.
