Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Thursday handed over the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to Ravindra Jadeja ahead of IPL 2022. The season begins from March 26.

In a statement, CSK said, “MS Dhoni has decided to hand over the leadership of Chennai Super Kings and picked Ravindra Jadeja to lead the team. Jadeja, who has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will only be the third player to lead CSK.”

With this let’s take a look at all CSK captains from 2008 till 2022:

Since 2008, MS Dhoni has led CSK in 204 matches. He has won 121 matches, lost 82 and one match was ended without a result. His winning percentage is 59.60, which is the second-highest in IPL history behind Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma.

However, in 2010, CSK was suddenly put into a dismal situation when MS Dhoni had to take his leave from the ground and head back home to Ranchi because of a grievous elbow injury.

In a match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens, Dhoni was injured due to an aggressive delivery by Shane Bond and was advised to take time off. Therefore, Suresh Raina in turn took his place as the captain of the team and he captained the team for 3 matches.
