Hailey Van Lith has decided to part ways with Louisville Cardinals and has entered the NCAA portal. The star-player is an All-American guard and 1,000-point scorer. She helped her team to finish in the Final Four in 2022.

Van Lith is the fifth Cardinal to enter the portal during this academic year. Payton Verhulst went midway through 2022-23 season, guards Jalyn Brown and Zyanna Walker  right before the NCAA Tournament and freshman forward Imani Lester this month.

Where will Hailey Van Lith go?

WUNC reporter Mitchell Northam cited sources in saying that Hailey Van Lith ‘has marked herself in the portal as “do not contact” (players typically do this when they have a good idea of where they are transferring to)’.

Van Lith finished 12th all-time in scoring for Louisville with 1553 points. She graduates in May. She is set to earn a degree in finance.

“We thank Hailey for her contributions to this program, this school and this community,” Louisville coach Jeff Walz said Saturday.

“She has done everything we have asked of her over the past three years, and we wish her the very best in her final collegiate season and beyond.”

In her last game for the college, the Cardinals lost to Iowa in the Elite Eight. The 21-year-old scored 27 points.  She averaged 19.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game this season.

“It’s been an honor over the last three years to have had the opportunity to pour my passion and heart into Louisville,” Van Lith said in an Instagram post Saturday morning.

“This city has impacted my life in so many ways and helped shape me into the person I am today. The Louisville community has given to me selflessly. I will never forget your unwavering support. I look back at my time in Louisville with nothing but joy and gratitude. … This community will always be part of my family and I’m forever grateful for my time here.”
