Harmanpreet Kaur led India to an eight-wicket win against Pakistan at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham on Sunday. With the victory, the women in blue moved to the top-spot of the Group A. They are scheduled to play Barbados Women in their last group match on August 3. 

Kaur, after the win vs Bismah Maroof and co, overtook MS Dhoni has the most successful Indian captain, in T20Is, going by the number of wins. The 33-year-old has 42 while the former India skipper, who retired from international cricket in 2019, had 41.

Harmanpreet Kaur took 71 matches as captain to get to 42 wins. She has 26 losses and three no-result games against her name. Dhoni, on the other hand, led India in 72 matches and won 41 of those. He had 28 losses, two no result matches and one tie. 

Virat Kohli, who is next on the list, captained India in 50 T20Is, winning 30 and losing 16. Two matches ended as tie while other two were no results.

Against Pakistan, India women chased an under-par 100-run target with 38 balls to spare. The rain-hit match was reduced to 18 overs a side. 

Opener Smriti Mandhana played an unbeaten knock of 63 runs off 42 balls with the help of eight fours and three sixes. She and Shafali Verma (16 off 9 balls) put up a 61-run opening stand in 5.5 overs.

After electing to bat first, Pakistan struggled to counter India’s tight bowling. For India, Sneh Rana (2/15) and Radha Yadav (2/18) took two wickets each after the match was reduced to 18 overs a side affair due to rain. Renuka Singh (1/20), Meghna Singh (1/21) and Shafali Verma (1/8) snapped one wicket each. Opener Muneeba Ali was the top-scorer with a 30-ball 32.
