Following Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s takeover of Wrexham Football club, the 156 year-old-club’s fans have overwhelmingly approved the move.

The third oldest professional football team in the world, the Robins currently sit in the fifth tier of the English football league system, and after the takeover the Hollywood duo released a video on the club’s Twitter channel, celebrating the takeover.

In the video, Reynolds and McElhenney states, “You may have never heard of Wrexham, the racehorse ground, or for Williams but you will, so to the Wrexham Supporters Trust, thank you, for your faith and trust in us.”

The new owners were quick to underline their vision for the club and in a zoom call addressed the supporters, staff, players and friends and family of Wrexham AFC.

The duo who are known for their frivolous displays on the silver screen, made a sober presentation to the fans of the club saying that they realised taking stewardship of the third oldest club in the world was an “incredibly serious matter.”

The duo outlined their goal for the club saying they wanted it to grow, return to the English Football League Championship, the second-highest overall in the english football league system.

They also stated that they wanted to return the club to the EFL in front of increased attendances at an improved stadium and thereby make a positive impact on the local community of Wrexham.

The latest owners outlined four key goals in rebuilding the side and assured fans of protecting the clubs 156 year heritage. The duo also promised to infuse the values, traditions, and legacy of the local community into the club.

The owners also made a few hard promises which included beating rivals Chester, always, and also investing and creating a permanent training facility worthy for an EFL club.
