With its constant need for intercontinental trips, multi-million dollar cars, swanky events, and celebrity fans, it is but obvious that Formula 1 is a sport that does not face any monetary constraints.
Max Verstappen of Red Bull is the highest-paid driver on the grid right now, which makes sense given that he is presently ranked first in the 2023 World Drivers Championship. In fact, the Dutchman will make an impressive $55 million in 2023 as he pursues his third consecutive drivers’ title. Lewis Hamilton, who has won seven world championships, is in second place with an expected salary of $35 million in 2023.
The drivers on the opposite end of the spectrum are understandably rookies. With a projected approximate income of $1 million for the 2023 season, Yuki Tsunoda of AlphaTauri and American rookie Logan Sargeant are at the bottom of the compensation list. Strangely, despite being in his third F1 season, Tsunoda is still under a rookie contract, which is essentially the same contract Sargeant had when he made his debut.

Ferrari duo Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are earning $24 million and $12 million respectively. Meanwhile, George Russell, a teammate of Hamilton’s, earns a far lower wage in contrast ($8 million), but with the young Briton widely anticipated as a future world champion by fans, that is unlikely to continue for very long.
