Day 8 of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics saw six medal events take place. Norwegian brothers Johannes Thingnes Boe and Tarjei Boe won the gold and bronze medals in the men’s 10km sprint event, while China’s Gao Tingyu became the first Chinese man to win a men’s speedskating event and took home the Olympic gold in the men’s 500m event. Lindsey Jacobellis and Nick Baumgartner of the US won the mixed team snowboardcross event, while Marius Lindvik of Norway secured gold in the ski-jumping men’s large hill event. The women’s cross-country skiing team event was dominated by Russia’s four-person team who put on a dominant display to secure the gold medal. Finally, 21-year-old Hannah Niese of Germany became the first German woman to get secure gold in an Olympic skeleton event.
