The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the Indian men’s cricket squad for the T20I World Cup.

The following is the Indian squad for World Cup: Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul (VC), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, R Pant (WK), Dinesh Karthik (WK), Hardik Pandya, R. Ashwin, Y Chahal, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, B Kumar, Harshal Patel, and Arshdeep Singh.

Among the players who have failed to make it to the squad for the T20I World Cup is Ravindra Jadeja. The 33-year-old is recovering from a surgery after he suffered a bad knee injury. He will be replaced by an all-rounder, so there has been a like-for-like replacement in that position.

Spinners Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi also failed to make it to the World Cup squad. However, Indian fans need not worry as off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will be traveling to Australia with the squad.

The TOI reported that there will be no new faces from the last T20I World Cup, except for Deepak Hooda. He, however, will not be an automatic first choice in playing XI.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Kartik has also featured in the T20I squad, but he will reportedly be the second choice after Pant.

India will be playing the first match in the T20I World Cup against arch-rival Pakistan on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2022, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). India has been placed in Group 2 along with Pakistan, Bangladesh, and South Africa.

In Group 1, there will be Australia, Afghanistan, England, and New Zealand. The winner and runner-up from both groups will be playing in the semi-finals of the mouthwatering contest.

However, all eyes in India will be on the men-in-Blue, as they are one of the favourites to win the trophy.
