Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on Saturday suffered an injury in his left thumb during the first innings of India’s third Test against Australia. “He has been taken for scans,” the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement.

According to PTI, he is unlikely to bowl in the Australian second innings.

Jadeja suffered a nasty blow by a short ball from Mitchell Starc. It hit him on the gloves on his bowling hand and he needed immediate medical attention.

However, his 28-run knock limited Australia’s first-innings lead to less than 100.

When the team was back on the field in the second innings, Jadeja bowled a few balls but then it was decided that it won’t be possible for him to continue.

Another Indian player, Rishabh Pant, was also injured in the first innings and was taken for scans. The wicketkeeper-batsman got hit on his left elbow while playing a ball by Pat Cummins.

In Australia’s second inning, Wriddhiman Saha came out to keep wickets, instead of Pant.

India versus Australia third Test is being played in Sydney.
