The hosts will be led by a new captain. After Eoin Morgan announced his retirement from international cricket on Thursday, Jos Buttler will now be leading England. Moreover, the ECB has awarded English spinner Adil Rashid permission to miss the T20I series in order to perform The Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca. For this series, England has also called up uncapped Lancashire seamer Richard Gleeson.

India has chosen two squads for the three-match T20I series against England, taking advantage of their extensive playing pool and keeping an eye on the T20 World Cup. In good news for the visitors, after the most recent round of tests, Rohit Sharma tested negative for COVID-19 and is prepared to take over as captain. The 1st T20 team features Arshdeep Singh, who impressed during the IPL 2022. Both T20I squads include Deepak Hooda, who scored a century against Ireland.
