After winning the T20I series 3-0, India and New Zealand are playing a two-match Test series, starting November 25. With the T20I series already in the bag, a second-string Indian team will be hoping to get the Test series in their kitty, as well. Step one towards winning the encounter at Kanpur is winning the toss and India did that. But this meant New Zealand lost yet another toss in their tour of India.

India captain won the toss and elected to bat on a pitch that will have plenty for the bowlers in the first three days and then plenty for the spinners in the last two days.

As the Kiwis lost their fourth consecutive toss to India, New Zealand’s Jimmy Neesham‘s reaction tells the story of every fan ever.

“Can somebody take a closer look at those coins please?” wrote Neesham on his Twitter account.

The last time New Zealand won a Test match in India was back in 1988. Keeping this record in mind, it can be assumed that New Zealand has a task cut out for them. However, with the form that they are in right now, they might just topple India.

In this series, India are missing the services of Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul. Rested for the first Test, regular captain Virat Kohli will be coming back in the second.

“Looking to bat first. Pitch looks really good. Generally slows down later on here. Shreyas is making his debut. We are all excited to play under the new coaching staff. I personally enjoy playing under Rahul bhai. New Zealand are a quality side,” Indian captain Ajinkya Rahane said after winning the toss.

Rahane said that they are going with three spinners and two seamers – Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav – in the match.
