The Indian cricket team is set to take on the West Indies tonight in what can be a crucial fixture in the five-match series the two teams are set to play. Although India handed the hosts a defeat in the first match of the series, the Nicholas Pooran-led side bounced back in the second match on the back of a brilliant Obed McCoy, who took six wickets in four overs, while giving away a mere 17 runs.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma got out to a duck, and this dismissal began the steady crumbling of India’s batting order, with only Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, and Ravindra Jadeja managing to cross the 20-runs mark.

In reply, West Indies opener Brandon King took matters into his own hands by scripting a brilliant 52-ball 68 in an innings that was laced with eight fours and two sixes. Although the Caribbean batters stumbled as well, it was wicketkeeper Devon Thomas’ crucial 19-ball 31-not-out performance that took the hosts over the victory line.

With the 3rd match of the series scheduled to be held at Warner Park again, it remains to be seen whether the Men in Blue have familiarised themselves with the pitch and can respond in spectacular fashion.
