Women’s cricket is all set to make its debut in the Commonwealth Games, 2022. As the games are going to held at Birmingham, all cricket matches are going to be played at the Edgbaston.

There is tangible enthusiasm among the Indian team as cricket returns to the Commonwealth Games for the first time in 24 years. The Indian women’s cricket team are one of the favourites to win the gold medal. Here’s a look at the squad of the Indian women:

Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Smriti Mandhana (vc), Renuka Thakur, Sneh Rana, Radha Yadav, Jemimah Rodrigues, Taniya Bhatia (wk), Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Meghna Singh, Deepti Sharma, Shafali Verma, Harleen Deol,  S. Meghana, Pooja Vastrakar, Yastika Bhatia (wk)

Their are eight teams in this edition, divided into two groups. India is in group A along with Australia, Barbados and Pakistan. The top two teams will qualify for the knockouts. The first placed team in group A will face the second placed team in group B and vice versa. The winners and losers of the semis will then play the gold medal and bronze medal match on August 7, 2022 respectively.

Here’s a look at the match Team India has to play in Group Stage:

1. India vs Australia (1st Match, July 29, Friday, 4:30 PM IST)

2. India vs Pakistan (5th Match, July 31, Sunday, 4:30 PM IST)

3. India vs Barbados (10th Match, August 3, Wednesday, 4:30 PM IST)

To qualify for the knockout stage, India will have to defeat at least two teams. If India succeeds in doing so, it will book its place for the semi finals, which will be played on August 6. In the event India wins the game, it will play the finale on August 7. If India loses the semis, it will play for bronze on the same day. So, in the knockout phase, India needs to win at least one match to win a medal.
