Jonathan Taylor, top-pick in NFL 2022 fantasy, was struggling for points so far. The Indianapolis running back averaged only 60 yards per game in the five games he played since Week 1, during which he scored 28 fantasy points.

However, the 23-year-old broke free against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 10. He broke his touchdown drought with a 66-yard TD run for his longest play of the season and the longest since Week 15 of the 2021 season.

Taylor’s heroics gave the Colts a 19-14 lead, which they added to in order to reach 25-20 with 2:30 left in the game. 

Jonathan Taylor missed Indianapolis Colts’ three out of last five games with ankle soreness. He reaggravated his injury against the Washington Commanders in Week 8 and missed the Colts’ Week 9 road game against the New England Patriots.

Taylor has been in and out of the lineup with ankle soreness, missing three of the Colts’ past five games. But Taylor seems to be rounding into shape as he regains his health, and that showed up as he beat two defenders down the sideline on his way to the end zone.

“I thought we had a chance — that it might progress a little bit better than it did this week — but it didn’t. So, we’ve got to be smart, do what’s right for the player and do what’s right for the team,” Indianapolis’ then-coach Frank Reich had said.

Taylor was NFL’s 2021 rushing leader. He had never missed a game because of injury entering the 2022 season. He battled a toe injury at the start of the season and then missed games with the ankle injury. 

Indianapolis fired the coach ahead of the Raiders game. The team second in the AFC South, but lost three consecutive games. They also dismissed offensive coordinator Marcus Brady, benched veteran quarterback Matt Ryan and traded running back Nyheim Hines to Buffalo.
