“Start the whistles!” MS Dhoni says at the start of a video posted on social media by the Chennai Super Kings. What follows the skipper’s command is a montage of the team’s practice session showing batsmen smashing the deliveries in the nets. Dhoni, himself, is seen playing his iconic helicopter shot. 

Chennai Super Kings face the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2021 final on Friday at the Dubai International Stadium. The yellow army are set to play their 9th final in the history of the tournament and eye a fourth title.

CSK was the first team to qualify for the final. They defeated the Delhi Capitals by four wickets in the Qualifier 1 to seal the berth. They have since engaged in intense training in Dubai. 

The franchise posted a video of a session on social media. Watch:

Dhoni, who comes after playing arguably his best cameo this season, was seen tonking the ball. He also hit the helicopter shot. 

The 40-year-old scored 18 runs in six balls against the Capitals. His innings included three fours and one six. 

The franchise captioned the video, “An(d)them #WhistlePodu #Yellove.”

Dhoni has managed to score 114 runs from 15 matches this season. However, after watching his cameo against Rishabh Pant and company, fans are expecting their ‘Thala’ to play a match-winning hand in the final. 

Against a rampant Kolkata Knight Riders, Dhoni and co will rely on their experienced players like Dwayne Bravo at 38, Faf du Plessis at 37, Ambati Rayudu (36) Robin Uthappa a few weeks short of his 36th birthday along with Moeen Ali (34) and Ravindra Jadeja (32).

The team will also need their star opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has scored 603 runs in the tournament and is likely to finish with the orange cap, to play as he has been for the 2021 season.
