Australian batsman Steve Smith is set to begin Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 with Delhi Capitals for the first time, and the superstar looks excited, to say the least, to wear the blue jersey. “Aap se milkar khushi hui” said the Australian in a Q&A video that was posted by Delhi Capitals on Twitter.

“I am excited to get started with Delhi in a couple of days time. Once I get out of quarantine, I will look forward to working with Ricky (Ponting) and Rishabh (Pant), and the rest of the guys”.

Smith said that he could not wait to start working with Delhi Capitals (DC) coach Ricky Ponting. ”He’s got such great knowledge of the game”, he added. “I think he’s done some great things with Delhi here last year. The energy he brings to any group is amazing”.

Smith mentioned that he was excited to see Rishabh Pant as the captain. “I think he is an incredible player as we have seen over the last few months. He has taken his game to a level. And I think captaincy will suit him really well”

On being asked about his progress with Hindi, the 31-year-old replied with a few hindi words he had picked up, “Aap se milkar khushi hui”, which meant that it was nice to meet you.

Smith opined that Mumbai Indians were probably the best side with all the accolades they have won in the past few years. But the veteran batsman would be rearing to open DC’s account in the tournament this season.
