Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the coolest captain in cricket. Not just because of his catchy hairstyles or his enviable collection of cars and bikes, but more so because of his ability to remain calm in the most nerve-wracking of situations on the field.

Dubbed ‘Captain cool’ for this very reason, it is rare to see Dhoni get angry at anyone on the pitch, let alone it being a teammate. And long-time Chennai Super Kings (CSK) colleague Dwayne Bravo was the latest to be on the receiving end of Dhoni’s fury,  when confusion with his captain led to Mumbai Indians‘ (MI) Saurabh Tiwary being dropped at a crucial point in the IPL 2021 match on Sunday.

The incident happened in the 18th over of the game, with Mumbai needing another 45 runs from 15 deliveries with four wickets in hand. Although CSK were fairly comfortable at that point, Saurabh Tiwary was well set on the crease and looking for a chance to explode and lead an unlikely chase.

In the fourth delivery of the over from Deepak Chahar, Tiwary shuffled across the crease and attempted to play the ramp shot from outside off, but only got a thick edge on it to send it flying at short fine leg.

Bravo was well-positioned for the catch, with the ball coming straight at him, but Dhoni followed the ball all the way and a confusion between him and the Trinidadian led to catch being dropped.

Dhoni was visibly angry with the incident and was seen saying a few words to Bravo in the aftermath.

However, the drop did not cost CSK as they went on to defeat the defending champions by 20 runs, capping a spectacular turn around in the game after being reduced to 24/4 in the powerplay of their innings.

Ruturaj Gaikwad rose to the occassion and top-scored with an unbeaten 88 from 58 deliveries to guide CSK to a respectable 156-run total.

In turn, Mumbai managed to score only 136 for the loss of eight wickets as Dhoni expertly used his bowlers to restrict their potent batting lineup. Tiwary top-scored for Mumbai with an unbeaten 50 from 40 deliveries.
