With Trent Boult’s stunning catch to dismiss Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni, the team was reduced to 24/4 in the powerplay against Mumbai Indians at the Dubai International Stadium. Reacting to the early batting collapse, Indian legend Virender Sehwag said “Hockey chal raha hai ya cricket.”

Mumbai’s Kiwi pace duo Trent Boult and Adam Milne wreaked havoc, swinging the ball both sides. Faf du Plessis, CSK’s highest run scorer this season, and Moeen Ali were dismissed for nought. Suresh Raina (3) and MS Dhoni (4) also fell cheaply. Ambati Raydu was declared retired hurt. So effectively, Chennai were five batsmen down.

Chennai captain MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to bowl. While the 2011 champs were missing the services of Sam Curran, Faf du Plessis was a part of the playing 11.

Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, were led by Kieron Pollard in the absence of Rohit Sharma. Hardik Pandya also missed to make the cut as Anmolpreet Singh made his debut.
