Royal Challengers
Bangalore
signed Kyle Jamieson for Rs 15 crore in this year’s auction in order
to strengthen their bowling attack. The right arm pacer had to settle with a
place on the bench for RCB’s clash against Chennai Super Kings.

Bangalore
made two changes in their playing eleven for the fixture. Kyle Jamieson and
Sachin Baby were relegated to the bench and replaced by debutant Tim David
and pacer Navdeep Saini. After confirming the squad, Kohli said “We needed more pace
in the middle overs. Kyle Jamieson misses out and Tim David replaces him. He
makes his debut for RCB, he’s a power player in the lower middle-order, plays
spin well and he’s a strong lad. He can hit those big ones,” Super
Kings’ won the toss and opted to field first.

Jamieson
has not performed on the level he is expected to. He recorded 9 wickets in 8
matches at an economy of 9.50 runs per over. The Kiwi all rounder’s best figure
of the tournament is 3 wickets for 41 runs.

He has not
been able to imitate his performances for New Zealand while donning the RCB jersey.
His quality is undeniable and he recently became the first New Zealand pacer to
bag a five-wicket haul in both innings of a test match.

At 6 feet 8
inches, he towers over every player on the pitch and gets an awkward bounce
when he pitches the ball. Batsmen find it difficult to play his full-length
deliveries. While playing in Super Smash in 2019 he picked up 6 wickets while
conceding just 7 runs in four overs.

He became the
face of several memes after RCB’s humiliating loss to Kolkata Knight Riders. He
was caught on camera smiling flirtatiously while looking at the team’s massage
therapist Navnita Gautam who was sitting in the dugout.

It remains
to be seen whether RCB will miss Jamieson’s bowling or will we see Navdeep
Saini cementing his place in the eleven.
