On a night where some of the finest and worst pieces of fielding were on display, Chennai Super Kings’ Ambati Rayudu pulled off a stunner to dismiss Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Akash Deep. 

“Like a salmon, right out of a river,” the commentator said as Rayudu, who is 36 years old, dived like Spider-Man to pluck the ball out of no where.

It was the fourth ball of the 16th over when Akash Deep, playing his second delivery, pushed a short of a good length ball by Ravindra Jadeja to the covers. However, Rayudu, at short cover, dived to his right and grabbed the ball out of thin air. The batsman was dismissed without scoring.

Only earlier in the game, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s debutant Suyash Prabhudessai affected a quick pick-up and throw run out to get rid of Moeen Ali.

Prabhusessai, stationed at backward point, dove to his right to intercept a slash by Ali. The 24-year-old then wasted no time to throw at the wicketkeeper’s end. Dinesh Karthik, behind the stumps, completed the formalities.

Chasing 217 runs, RCB lost three wickets withing the powerplay. The likes of Shahbaz Ahmed and Glenn Maxwell did try to put a fight but the team lost wickets at regular intervals. Dinesh Karthik, in at No 7, scored 34 runs off 14 balls. 

However, Faf du Plessis and co lost by 23 runs.

In the first innings, Shivam Dube and Rohit Uthappa feasted on the Royal Challengers Bangalore attack. The two scored 88 and 95 runs respectively.
