The Wankhede pitch that looked like a high-scoring one ahead of the Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders fixture, ended up acting against openers in both the innings. However, Delhi batters started off much better than KKR did, with 30 runs up on the board in 3.2 overs.

Prithvi Shaw walked back to the crease after scoring a golden duck. Harshit Rana managed to send back Mitchell Marsh before he could do much damage. David Warner and Lalit Yadav however continued to torment KKR bowlers.

After KKR’s top order crumbled in the first innings, Nitish Rana’s 57 along with skipper Shreyas Iyer’s 42, helped the team crawl to 146 for 9 in 20 overs. Rinku Singh’s 23 off 16 balls was also of note.

Kuldeep Yadav bowled a four-fer that featured the wickets of Narine and Russell for ducks to put the game out of reach for KKR. This season, he has 8 wickets in two games versus his former team. He also bowled an over short tonight. KKR were 35/4 and 83/6 at one point, however from overs 16-19, KKR scored 55 runs as Pant miscalculated by handing Lalit Yadav one over too many.

Mustafizur Rahman wrapped things up for DC and put a bow on it as he clinched 3 wickets in the last over of the innings.

Chetan Sakariya, who debuted for DC in this match performed quite well with the ball and had Aaron Finch’s wicket to his name. “The credit goes to the captain who used me on the right occasions, I was very confident about my ability before the game and landed the areas perfectly (describing his bowling spell),” he said after the innings.

“I think dew will have an effect in the second innings and the ball will come onto the bat nicely, the ball does travel long on this ground as well (when asked about the chase),” he added.
