Ayush Badoni smashed Shardul Thakur for a six to guide Lucknow Super Giants to a 6-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals in the 15th match of the 2022 Indian Premier League in Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium on Friday.

Sent to bat, Delhi Capitals scored 149 for 3. Opener Prithvi Shaw top-scored for the side with a 34-ball 61. Skipper Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan chipped in with 39 not out and 36 not out respectively.

Young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi (2/22) was the standout performer for LSG while Krishnappa Gowtham (1/23) also bowled impressively on his debut for the side.

Chasing a 150-run target, LSG had a great start, thanks to South African Quinton de Kock, who slammed 80 off 52 balls. Despite losing KL Rahul (24) and Evin Lewis (3) in quick succession, the side managed to chase down the target with two balls to spare.

For DC, Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets while Shardul Thakur and Lalit Yadav got one each.

“Obviously when the dew is like that, you can’t complain. But as a batting unit, we were 10-15 runs short. We just wanted to give our 100% till the last ball of the 40th over. I think the powerplay was fine, but the main game changed in the middle overs. The spinners bowled well, but we were 10-15 runs short,” DC skipper Rishabh Pant said after the game.
