Hashal Patel and Wanindu Hasranga were in for big pay days as the Royal Challengers Bangalore spent Rs 10.75 crore each to snap up the in-form bowlers in the recently-concluded IPL mega auction.

The franchise made some smart buys as well, securing Faf du Plessis for Rs 7 crore, while a winning bid of Rs 7.75 crore got them Aussie seamer Josh Hazlewood. Shahbaz Ahmed was also re-signed by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 2.4 crore, while Delhi wicketkeeper-batsman Anuj Rawat was signed for Rs 3.4 crore. Akash Deep, a young bowler, was snapped up for his basic price of Rs 20 lakh.

RCB, who qualified for the playoffs last season, spent Rs 33 crore to keep the three players while releasing the others. Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Siraj were among the three players retained by the three-time champions ahead of the IPL 2022 major auction.

As they rebuild their lineup, Royal Challengers Bangalore will be hoping to end their long wait for a first IPL triumph.

history of IPL.
