As the Los Angeles Chargers trailed 20-31 to the Denver Broncos away in the week 18 NFL game at the Empower Field at Mile High, fans on social media criticized head coach Brandon Staley’s choices and blamed him for the sudden downturn of the Chargers.

At the start of the fourth quarter, the Chargers were only four points away from the Denver and the game hung 20-24. But as the quarter progressed, the Broncos quickly extended the lead.

At the same time, the Chargers’ injury list picked up the pace. Austin Ekeler took a hit from Jewell, Mike Williams, one of the key players was carted off the field, and Kenneth Murry took a hit and was listed as questionable.

Joey Bosa also got injured earlier and left the game.

“A Reminder Brandon Staley has been a terrible Head Coach from game one in the NFL. He just escaped flak because he went for it on fourth down really often (even though many of them were terrible decisions). Chargers should get rid of him,” one user said.

“The @chargers are both losing a meaningless game and losing players a week before the #NFLPlayoffs. I don’t get it, Brandon Staley?” another one asked.

“If Brandon Staley hurts so many players that the Chargers can’t go to Jacksonville next week, the Broncos should take their place. It’s only fair,” the third one said.

However, as the fourth quarter went on, the Chargers staged a decent comeback. They managed to restrict the Broncos to their 31 point and steadily climbed up to 28 with five minutes left for the quarter to end.

From here, it is highly likely that they will be catching up with the Chargers. Will it absolve Staley of his choices? Perhaps, perhaps not, only time will have the answer.
