Former champions Bengaluru FC suffered their second consecutive defeat of the season against the Jamshedpur FC in an Indian Super League match on Monday. At the Fatorda Stadium in Goa’s Margao, Bengaluru FC went down 0-1 against the Jamshedpur FC. The sole goal of the match was scored in the 41st minute by Stephen Eze.

Bengaluru, who also lost 0-1 to ATK Mohun Bagan on December 21, are currently placed fourth with 12 points. They would look to quickly regroup and close the gap with Mumbai City FC and ATK Mohun Bagan (both on 16 points).

With the win, Jamshedpur have jumped up to the third spot in the points table.

Jamshedpur goalkeeper TP Rehenesh was named the ‘Hero of the Match’ for maintaining a clean sheet against a formidable Bengaluru side. In the last couple of games, Rehenesh has put up some stellar performances. He made a couple of major saves, denying Rahul Bheke and Cleiton Silva a goal.

On Tuesday, ATK Mohun Bagan will look to make a hattrick of wins when they face Chennaiyin FC. Mohun Bagan are high on confidence after their wins against bigwigs FC Goa and Bengaluru FC. A win for ATK Mohun Bagan will take the Kolkata heavyweights to the top of the table ahead of the New Year as the key for the Habas-coached side would be to guard complacency.
