The New York Jets acquired running back James Robinson in exchange for a future sixth-round draft pick from the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team traded for the player after rookie RB Breece Hall suffered a torn ACL injury against the Denver Broncos in Week 7 of the 2022 NFL season.
An important note to take from this trade is that the sixth-round pick that the Jets traded will become a 5th-round pick if the RB rushes for 600 yards this season, as per reports. Robinson already has rushed for 340 yards in 81 carry attempts for three touchdowns in seven games of the 2022 NFL season and needs 260 more for that 6th to be the 5th pick.

He will be an important inclusion for the Jets considering Hall will not be playing in any more games this season.
Prior to his injury, Hall was one of the leading candidates for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. The first-year running back had 80 carries for 463 yards and four touchdowns.
His best game of the season came in a win against the Miami Dolphins when he rushed for 97 yards in 18 carries while he also received the football two times for a total of 100 yards. Hall was tied with Kenneth Walker of the Seattle Seahawks for most rushing TDs by a rookie after seven weeks.
How does the trade for Robinson impact the Jets team?
Robinson is likely to become either the number-1 or number-2 running back for the team. His eight touchdowns for the Jaguars last season can be considered evidence that the player is good in his position.
Robinson ran 4.6 seconds in a 40-yard dash at his NFL Draft combine in 2020, which means he can run fast and an improved QB in Zach Wilson will help both player and the team to either make a playoff appearance or at least make a hard push for it.
The New York Jets are currently second in the AFC East standings with a 5-2 record, just trailing division leaders Buffalo Bills who have a game in hand.
Out of the 10 games remaining for the season, four of them are against New England Patriots and the Bills. If they are able to win two of them and then win half of the remaining games, then it would be a very successful season for the team, considering it had 4-13 and 2-14 records in the past two seasons.
