Jeff Bezos, the fourth-richest man in the world, on Sunday reacted to reports claiming that he is interested in buying the Washington Commanders from the Snyder family. The NFL outfit plays the Philadelphia Eagles in their Week 10 matchup on Monday.

Bezos was asked about his interest in the Washington DC-based franchise in an interview with CNN’s Chloe Melas on Saturday. He did not deny the reports and said  ‘We’ll just have to wait and see’.

Several reports this month have claimed that the Amazon founder plans to buy the team with Jay-Z.

“Yes, I’ve heard that buzz,” said, according to CNN.

“I grew up in Houston, Texas, and I played football growing up as a kid … and it is my favorite sport. So we’ll just have to wait and see,” he added.

The Washington Commanders are currently owned by billionaires Dan and Tanya Snyder. The two earlier this month said that they hired Bank of America to “consider potential transactions,” which could include a sale. Their statement came amid pressure from fans and experts to sell. The team is facing allegations of financial improprieties and claims that there is a toxic workplace culture.

The owners have denied both claims.

Dan Snyder and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell were sued by the District of Columbia on Thursday, accused of colluding to deceive fans by lying about an inquiry into “sexual misconduct and a persistently hostile work environment” within the team.

A sale, as per Front Office Sports who cited team executives and bankers, could fetch as much as $7 billion.

“I do like football. I’m just going to throw that out there for everyone,” Bezos’ girlfriend Lauren Sánchez said. The Amazon boss has a fortune worth $124 billion. He owns a $23 million mansion in Washington DC as well as the city’s newspaper, the Washington Post.
