The New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who suffered a season-ending Achilles tear during a 22-16 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football, has now opened out about the incident.
Rodgers in an Instagram post said, “Thank you to every person that has reached out, called, texted, DM’d, connected through a friend, etc. It has meant a ton to me, and I’ll try and get back to all of you soon. I’m completely heartbroken and moving through all of the emotions, but deeply touched and humbled by the support and love. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I begin the healing process today. The night is darkest before the dawn. And I shall rise yet again. Proud of my guys, 1-0”

Rodgers ruptured his Achilles on New York’s opening drive against the Bills on Monday. Only four plays were made during his brief 75 seconds on the field before he was carried off and later declared ineligible.

The four-time MVP’s injury, which has kept him out of action, is perhaps one of the worst in recent memory. After obtaining Rodgers in an offseason deal with the Green Bay Packers, the Jets had high expectations and Super Bowl ambitions heading into the 2023 season.
Robert Saleh, the head coach of the Jets, reiterated this idea when he told reporters on Wednesday that he would be “shocked” if Rodgers decided to call it quits after just one season. Rodgers’ deal with the Jets runs through the end of the 2025 campaign. Zach Wilson, the No. 2 overall choice in the 2021 draft, will take over as the starting quarterback as a result of Rodgers’ injury.
