Indian skipper Virat Kohli slipped to the fifth spot on the ICC Test rankings as his English counterpart Joe Root gained places. Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah moved up 10 places to now be ranked ninth on the table. Ollie Robinson (46th), Shardul Thakur (55th), Ravindra Jadeja (36th among batters), KL Rahul (56th) also made significant gains.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday announced the updated rankings across formats. The men’s Test batting rankings are lead by Kane Williamson, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne. Joe Root, who scored 64 and 109 in the opening Test against India gained 49 points, now occupies the fourth position. Virat Kohli was dismissed for a duck in the first innings of the Nottingham Test and did not bat in the second, which was washed out.

Amongst the bowlers, Bumrah, who picked nine wickets at Nottingham, in on the ninth spot. England’s James Anderson also advanced by a spot to be seventh in the bowling list. The bowlers’ rankings are lead by Pat Cummins, Ravichandran Ashwin and Tim Southee.

Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, after his team’s historic 4-0 T20I series win over Australia, earned 34 points and now leads the all-rounder’s table in the 20-over format. Shakib scored 114 runs and picked seven wickets. He became the first man to complete 100 wickets and score 1000 runs in T20Is. Amongst the bowlers,  Mustafizur Rahman gained 20 places and is now ranked 10th.  Mohammad Saifuddin (43rd) and Nasum Ahmed (66th) also moved up in the rankings. Australia’s Mitchell Marsh, who scored 111 runs in the last four matches, jumped four spots to reach 21st among batsmen. Fast bowler Josh Hazlewood is up 43 places to 34th position.

South Africa’s Tabraiz Shamsi, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga and Afghani spinner Rashid Khan lead the T20 bowling rankings.
