Jorginho converted two spot kicks, one of then in the fourth minute of the stoppage time, to help Chelsea beat Leeds 3-2 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. With the three points, the Blues are third on the Premier League standings behind Manchester City and Liverpool.

Mason Mount’s strike minutes before half-time ensured that Chelsea and Leeds were on level, 1-1, at half-time. It was in the 58th that Thomas Tuchel’s men were handed a golden opportunity when Raphinha dove into a challenge on Antonio Rudiger inside the penalty area. Jorginho converted the penalty.

Joe Gelhardt equalised the Italian’s effort in the 83rd only to see another penalty awarded to their opponents in the stoppage time following a soft challenge to Rudiger. Jorginho, again on the spot, sent goalkeeper Meslier the wrong way and ensured a win for his side.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have gone five games without a clean sheet. Ahead of this he revealed that Mason Mount had explained to him the rivalry that exists between Chelsea and Leeds.

“I didn’t know about that. Mason [Mount] told me about it, and we had these talks when we played there. But we played without spectators, so I could not get the full feeling. It’s an important match for us because we want to bounce back,” the manager said.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard’s return to Anfield nearly dealt a damaging blow to Liverpool’s title hopes but Mohamed Salah’s penalty in the 67th minute secured a 1-0 win for the Reds after goalkeeper Emi Martinez frustrated the hosts for much of the game. Manchester City also secured a win.
