The Tennessee Titans start quarterback Joshua Dobbs instead of rookie Malik Willis against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday. The two side lock horns at the Nissan Stadium, Nashville

Dobbs was signed off Detroit Lions’ practice squad this month. The Dallas game will be his first career start. 

Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee’s regular QB, is out for the rest of the season due to an ankle injury.

Joshua Dobbs family: All about the quarterback’s father Robert Dobbs and mother Stephanie Dobbs?

Joshua Dobbs was born and raised in Alpharetta, Georgia. His mother Stephanie retired from United Parcel Service (UPS) as a regional manager in corporate human resources. His father Robert is a senior vice president for Wells Fargo bank.

Dobbs began participating in organized football leagues when he was five years old. He attended Both Wesleyan School and Alpharetta High School. He threw for 3,625 yards and 29 touchdowns as a senior quarterback for the Alpharetta Raiders football team.

According to Scout.com and Rivals.com, Dobbs was a four-star prospect. He made a collegiate football commitment to Arizona State University initially, but in February 2013, he switched to the University of Tennessee.

At the University of Tennessee, Dobbs majored in aerospace engineering. He received the 2017 Torchbearer Award from the institution, which is the highest distinction given to undergraduate students in recognition of their achievements in the community and in the classroom.

In addition to being named to the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll, Dobbs was praised for having a flawless 4.0 grade point average.
