Jurrien Timber attended the Manchester United vs Man City 2023 FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium, London on Saturday. His appearance comes amid rumors that Erik Ten Hag wants to sign him.

The Ajax defender has been strongly linked to United, especially because manager Ten Hag coached him in the Dutch league. The 22-year-old is expected to strengthen the Red Devils’ defense. He can play both center-back and right-back.

“He’s coming to United” a fan tweeted after spotting him. “He wants to watch his future team,” a second one wrote.

“Love it. Hopefully he can have a chat with Erik with a fourth adding: “He’s been dreaming of being a red for a whole year now,” a third one said on Twitter.

United targetted center-backs last summer. They settled for Lisandro Martinez, who played for Ajax, for a fee just north of £ 50 million. Signing Timber should cover for their defensive woes.

Timber has hinted that he might be on the move in the summer.

“For me it is the same situation as last season. If I say: I’m leaving, it has to fit,” the player told Ziggy Sport, as quoted by Voetbal Primeur.

“Playing style is important, playing minutes… Participating in the prizes is also important. My favourite country? I dare not say that. That’s why I’m doing the same as last season. The chance is there, it can happen, but I’m also good here. I’m still young and everything suits me here. I’m going to take a look.”

“I don’t know yet if I’m going to make that step now. I’m glad I’m at Ajax. You can always show yourself here. It’s not like I’m gone if we don’t play the Champions League. Ajax remains Ajax. What I look at: if I leave, is the whole picture correct? I also know how important the coach and the guys around you are,” he said.
