Jones is currently between a contract holdout with the Kansas City Chiefs and has missed the crucial season opener against the Lions.

The visuals of him attending the match surfaced on social media. Several NFL fans reacted to it on X. One user wrote, “@getnickwright the Chiefs need to pay Chris Jones asap because Goff is just chilling back there without any pressure.”

“Especially if KC gets the Chris Jones situation figured out. Scary thing is the Lions are still down Jameson Williams who should really make that offense explosive,” another wrote.

Star defensive end Jones was originally slated to start the final year of a four-year, $80 million contract. However, he has been conspicuously absent from preseason and training camp due to rumors that he is holding out for a deal worth more than $30 million.

According to rumors, Jones has been actively hunting for a contract with an average annual value that would match or possibly surpass Aaron Donald’s spectacular $31.67 million contract. The Chiefs have countered with a bid that is in the $22.5 million to $24 million range, which is closer to the contracts that Daron Payne, Jeffery Simmons, Dexter Lawrence, and Quinnen Williams recently signed this offseason.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce also urged Jones to resolve the conflict and join the team for the 2023 NFL season, as it has kick-started with the team facing the Detroit Lions. Kelce in a podcast said, “Oh man Chris, can you please come back? You’re really scaring me man. I don’t get it, you must know something that I don’t know because I just don’t get it. I really want to get another Super Bowl ring with you brother and this is me begging you to just come back and play football with the Chiefs.”
