Taylor made a facemask penalty in the end zone, which led to a safety for the opposition. Taylor was found to have grabbed and contorted the facemask within the end zone, leading to the penalty being applied. The twist happened inside the end zone, even though the tape showed that Taylor’s first touch started slightly outside the field of play, at about the 1-yard line.

As a result of persistent problems with false starts and incorrect placement in the backfield, Taylor has intermittently been benched in recent games. Taylor had already accrued seven penalties in 2023 going into the game on Sunday, including three false starts, two unlawful formations, and two offensive holds.
