The Kings XI Punjab has been one of the most entertaining franchises of the Indian Premier League throughout the 12 seasons. But despite some brilliant performances, they are yet to win the tournament. After a disappointing season last year, where they only managed to win 6 out of 14 matches and came sixth, they will look to make a mark in UAE under new captain KL Rahul as they start their IPL 2020 campaign against Delhi Capitals on Sunday.

They have made major changes both in the squad and the management. Former India spinner Anil Kumble has been appointed as the Director of Cricket Operations and Head Coach.

They will depend on Mohammad Shami to get them early breakthroughs with his pace and guile. He is expected to form a lethal combination with left-armer Sheldon Cottrell. Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman showed promise last year and will play a key role in a bowling lineup that is dominated by pace.

An opener like Chris Gayle will be a major advantage as his big-hitting can give them a great start. On the other hand, the return of Glenn Maxwell has added to the list of big-hitters in the team. He is still remembered for his stunning performance in the 2014 IPL for the franchise.

Kings XI also have a ton of domestic talents who would be vital in their success.  The team will be dependent on players such as Mayank Agarwal, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Mandeep Singh, Krishnappa Gowtham and Ravi Bishnoi.
