KL Rahul, who was recovering from in injury at the NCA, Bangalore, is likely to miss the T20I series against West Indies. The five-match affair starts on July 29 and will go on till August 7. 

Rahul tested positive for COVID-19 last week. The 30-year-old has been advised to take rest, a BCCI source told NDTV. The top-order batter was named in the squad for the T20Is, subject to his fitness. He had undergone surgery for a sports hernia, in Germany, and was recovering at the NCA.

Rahul had been recovering from an injury which had ruled him out of India’s home T20I series against South Africa and the tour of England.

The Men in Blue are currently playing a three-match ODI series against Nicholas Pooran’s men. They have won the series 2-0 and will participate in the last game on Wednesday.

In the second ODI, all-rounder Axar Patel hit India’s second-fastest fifty, in the format and guided the visitors in a close chase of 312.

“It was a great team performance. Boys didn’t lose the self belief, that is amazing. Iyer, Sanju, Axar everyone was amazing, Even Avesh came out in his debut game and scored those 11 important runs. Thanks to IPL, they perform on a huge stage. I felt that we bowled nicely. They got off to a good start. Hope and Pooran batted well. We thought if they could do it, we knew that we could do it,” skipper Shikhar Dhawan said.
