K’Von Wallace and Trent Williams were ejected after a brawl in Philadelphia Eagles vs San Francisco 49ers NFC title game at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Friday. The 49ers’ frustration showed as they were stuck with seven points throughout the game, as it ended with the Eagles winning with 31 points as opposed to seven of the 49ers.

The 49ers, who ended last season as well with a loss in the NFL AFC Championship game, had a terrible quarterback situation. They have been down to their third-choice quarterback Brock Purdy since December 11 when first-string Jimmy Garopollo suffered an injury.
However, Purdy turned the season around for them with a consistent show in all the games he played for the 49ers. During the 49ers Wild Card game against the Seattle Seahawks, the rookie quarterback managed to throw for 200 yards- the highest by a rookie quarterback in an NFL playoff game. In the divisional playoff against the Dallas Cowboys, Purdy finished the entire game without a turnover as the 49ers edged a decisive 27-17 victory.
The 49ers fans were hoping that Purdy would lead the franchise to the Super Bowl. However, in the first quarter of the NFC title game, the 23-year-old suffered an elbow injury and had to be replaced.
To make matters worse for the 49ers, Josh Johnson – Purdy’s replacement and 49ers’ fourth-string quarterback, also suffered an injury and the 49ers were left without a quarterback. Christian McCaffrey – the 35-year-old running back, came on to see the rest of the game through.
With the game hanging by the thread, Purdy did make a comeback and tried pushing his team in spite of the injury.
Playing with an injury is not uncommon, as even Patrick Mahomes did in their divisional playoff match earlier. However, the fact that the quarterback injured his elbow made it difficult for him to throw and he appeared severely restricted.
