LA Lakers star Elgin Baylor, who was an 11-time NBA All-Star, died at the age of 86 on Monday. The team announced the Basketball veteran’s demise and reported that he died with his family by his side.

Years before contemporary players like Micheal Jordan and LeBron James took over All-Stars spots, Baylor displayed an unconventional style in his techniques, including his famous hovering like leaps and inventing new shots on the spot, reported Associated Press.

Even though Baylor failed to secure a championship title after facing multiple defeats in a borderline finish against teams like New York Knicks and Boston Celtics, the NBA legend provided the necessary push to his team, which went on to win the title in the series of 1971-72.

Baylor reached his peak in the 1960s, a time when sports were broadcasted in a limited manner, due to which his sporting achievements fell short of the recognition they deserved.
