As a tribute to Kobe Bryant, in the final quarter of the All-Star game the teams chased a target of 24 points, Bryant’s jersey number. The points were added to the leading team’s score to determine the figure.

Kobe married Vanessa Laine on April 18, 2001, at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Dana Point, California. The couple welcomed their first daughter, Natalia, in January 2003. Natalia is a student at the University of Southern California.

Their second daughter, Gianna Maria-Onore was born in May 2006. Gianna and Kobe died in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020.

In December 2016, Vanessa gave birth to their third daughter Bianka. In January 2019, Kobe and Vanessa announced that they were expecting a fourth child. Their daughter Capri was born in June 2019.

Team Giannis bagged an entertaining and dominant 184-175 victory over Team LeBron in the 2023 NBA All-Star game. Jayson Tatum won the MVP award, which is named after his idol, the late Kobe Bryant.

In February 2020, to commemorate the death of Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant that has come a month earlier, the NBA renamed the award given to the most valuable player at its All-Star Game after Bryant. He was an 18-time All-Star and won the MVP award four times, equalling him for most-all time with former St Louis Hawks great Bob Pettit. Last year, the NBA hired artist Victor Solomon to redesign the trophy so that it would better represent Bryant’s greatness.

The Boston Celtics forward scored 13 first-quarter points to end up with 55, an All-Star game record. Anthony Davis held the record back in 2017 when he had 52 points.
