Antonio Conte, who took over as Tottenham Hotspur’s manager early this month, said that there is no timeframe for the club’s success. The Spurs travel to NS Mura for Thursday’s Europa Conference League showdown in Group G.

Conte is yet to face his first defeat as Tottenham Hotspur’s manager. Under him, Harry Kane and company defeated SBV Vitesse before salvaging a draw against Everton and then finishing 2-1 versus Leeds United. 

Conte, ahead of the NS Mura game, refused to set a timeframe for ending the north London club’s long wait for silverware. Tottenham Hotspur last won a trophy in 2008 –  English League Cup.

“I know this is not simple, I am honest to understand this, but we want to try and build something important and try and lift trophies together, this must be our target,” he told a pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

He said that the team can improve a lot and acknowledged that the Premier League is not an easy competition to fight in. 

“To build something ready to fight, in England it is not easy because the other teams are very, very strong but I know that through the work we can improve a lot.”

“If you ask me how much time we need before it happens, it is very difficult to tell you this. In our heart and mind, this must be our inspiration and we are to try to do this for the best of the club,” the 52-year-old added. 

Antonio Conte took over Tottenham Hotspur’s responsibility from Nuno Espirito Santo after the club’s 3-0 loss against Manchester United.

“I am extremely happy to return to coaching, and to do so at a Premier League club that has the ambition to be a protagonist again. Tottenham Hotspur has state-of-the-art facilities and one of the best stadiums in the world,” he had said. 

“I can’t wait to start working to convey to the team and the fans the passion, mentality and determination that have always distinguished me, as a player and as a coach.”

Talking of the playing combinations for the Europa Conference League game, he said, “All the players available will come with us. They must be ready to play against Mura.”

“I said on Sunday that I need to make rotation because there are players that are a bit tired because they played many games with the national team and also we worked a lot in the last two weeks.

“There are other players that need game time. For us this competition is important. We want to take this fixture seriously and we want to go through to the next step”.
