Lionel Messi is settling in at Paris Saint-German after a lacklustre first season, following his move from Barcelona, where the little magician scripted magic and made memories that will echo in the annals of footballing history.

“I feel good, I feel different from last year. I knew it was going to be like this”, the 35-year-old said, as per Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

“I’m more comfortable with the club, the dressing room… my teammates, the game. I feel very good and so I’m starting to enjoy myself again”, the Argentine forward added.

While Messi had only netted six goals over 26 appearances in his first season with the Ligue 1 side, he’s already managed to find the back of the net four times in eight matches in the current season. The Argentine’s attention is divided this season, due to the upcoming Qatar World Cup, which might be Messi’s last chance to win the trophy for Argentina and equal Diego Maradona’s achievement. However, he still seems poised to surpass his last season’s tally with PSG.

In his first season, the aging professional decided to capitalize on his understanding and vision in the game to transform his role to more of a free-roaming attacking midfielder, where he starts from a deeper position, but in the process has much more control over how the ball plays in the midfield.

A week back, PSG football advisor, Luis Campos, said in a podcast that he was very pleased with Messi and had asked the Argentine to stay back, adding that Messi wasn’t likely to make any decision before the World Cup. Going by the footballer’s recent statements, he is looking to remain and play alongside former Barca teammate Neymar Jr, and French star Kylian Mbappe.

Barcelona, meanwhile, strongly desire Messi returns to the club that launched his career. Both club president and current coach, Xavi – who played alongside Messi – have expressed their wish for the Argentine to rejoin his old Spanish side.
