Lockie Ferguson of the Gujarat Titans bowled a 157.3 kmph delivery in the IPL 2022 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Sunday to record the fastest delivery of the season. Batting first, the Rajasthan Royals were 71/2 after 10 overs.
Brought into attack in the fifth over, Ferguson delivered a 157.3 kmph bullet very full and just outside off. Batter Jos Buttler looked to squeeze it to the off-side and missed. This was the fastest ball of IPL 2022.
Sunrisers Hyderabad's Umran Malik recieved the Swiggy fastest ball award in all 14 matches he played this season. The Jammu & Kashmir based pacer had clocked 157 kmph against the Delhi Capitals, which was the fastest delivery of the season ahead of the final.
Now, Ferguson holds the honours. The New Zealand bowler's 15.3 kmph ball is the joint fastest in IPL history. Shaun Tait is the other pacer who reached the mark.
Malik's SRH did not make into the top four of IPL 2022. Hence, it will be safe to say that Ferguson will take the fastest delivery of the IPL 2022 award home.
Umran Malik finished IPL 2022 with 22 wickets in 14 games at an average of 20.18 and economy rate of more than 9 rpo.
Lockie Ferguson has so far picked 12 wickets in IPL 2022 at a n average of 33.75 and economy of 9.06 rpo. The Kiwi was brought in the playing 11 for the finals as Gujarat benched Alzarri Joseph.
