The signing of Albert Pujols was completed by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday after an unexpected ouster from the Los Angeles Angels just before his contract expired.

Pujols has been brought on board the LA Dodgers on a one-year deal and will be joining a team that has been experiencing the burden of a flurry of game-related injuries in the current season.

The 41-year-old is set to act as a fallback option for the Dodgers as two key first-base players, Edwin Rios and Cody Bellinger, have been restricted due to their injuries, AFP reported.

Corey Seager and A.J. Pollock, key players to the Dodgers lineup, have also been benched after sustaining severe in-field injuries.

Pujols was known to be one of the most critical players for the St. Louis Cardinals, through the entire decade he played for them, while his batting average was consistently crossing the .300 mark, reported AFP.

However, his average crashed under .300 for the entirety of his time with the Angels.
