Magnus White, a member of the US Junior Men’s National Team, died just a few days before the Glasgow UCI World Championships. He was killed while preparing for the competition close to his American home. Just one day after White’s death, his GoFundMe campaign has now raised more than $66,000.

USA Cycling confirmed White’s death on Sunday after being ‘struck by a car’ during a cycle in Boulder, Colorado. “He was a rising star in the off-road cycling scene and his passion for cycling was evident through his racing and camaraderie with his teammates and local community,” they said in a statement.
White was struck and died while out on one of his final training rides before the junior men’s mountain bike cross-country world championships on August 10 in Glasgow.

The teen’s cycling résumé listed several accomplishments, including winning the junior 17–18 national cyclocross title in 2021 and qualifying for the US national team. He also participated in team competitions in Europe before the world cyclocross championships of last year and was chosen to compete for the US once more at the championships this year.
Magnus White’s GoFundMe page states, “He began cycling when he was eight and quickly rose through the cycling ranks. Magnus’s journey in cycling was driven by a tireless work ethic and a deep desire to achieve his personal best. He was proud to represent his community and country around the world. Magnus accomplished many of the goals he set for himself.”

According to the fundraiser description, he is now survived by his parents Jill and Michael, his brother Eero, and countless friends worldwide. The page urges users to keep Magnus in their thoughts and support his family during this difficult time. Additionally, it states that the contributions will be used by the family as needed to help them cope with this incident.
