After Cristiano Ronaldo’s full interview with British journalist Piers Morgan was aired, Manchester united responded on Thursday by saying that they have “initiated appropriate steps” against the footballer.

Earlier, when a few clips from the interview were released on the Piers Morgan Uncensored YouTube channel in which Ronaldo was seen making multiple allegations against the club, United said it would wait for the full interview to be aired before responding. Although Manchester United has not specified the nature of action they will take against Ronaldo, multiple media outlets are reporting that they have hired lawyers to sue the footballer and he will be banned from the club hereafter.

“Manchester United has this morning initiated appropriate steps in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent media interview,” the club said, adding, “We will not be making further comment until this process reaches its conclusion.”

The Guardian reports that the 37-year-old has been instructed by the club not to return to training at Carrington, Manchester when club duties resume for the players after the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He never play for Manchester United after this, according to sources inside the club.

Ronaldo, who is paid 500,000 pounds a week at United, alleged in the interview that the club is trying to force him out and senior executives at the club did not believe him when he failed to join pre-season training after the death of his newborn son in April. He also said that the club’s owners, the Glazers, do not care about the club’s sporting side and use it as a marketing device. he claimed that United’s current manager, Erik Ten Hag, does not respect him.

Ronaldo s currently with the Portuguese team preparing for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He will land in Doha on Friday, along with his other teammates and their World Cup campaign kicks off against Ghana on Thursday, November 24.
