Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has benched Cristiano Ronaldo once again for the Red Devils’ Premier League match against Leicester City. The Portuguese megastar has started on the bench on three out of the four PL matches so far, with ten Hag opting to go for Marcus Rashford as a striker in the encounters against Liverpool and Southampton.

United’s recent signing, the Brazilian defensive midfielder Casemiro, will also have to warm the bench in the encounter unless he is brought on in a later part of the match. He will be joined by club captain Harry Maguire, who has lost his spot as a regular in the starting lineup since the arrival of Lisandro Martinez from Ajax.

Casemiro and Ronaldo were brought on in the later part of the match against Southampton, which United won via a long-range strike by stand-in captain Bruno Fernandes. Antony, who will not be able to participate in the match for visa issues, can make his United debut in the upcoming PL match against Arsenal.

Ronaldo made numerous attempts to seal a move away from Old Trafford this season, but no club was ready to accept the 37-year-old in their team. Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn cited the club’s philosophy when asked about Ronaldo’s chances of joining the Bundesliga champions. Ronaldo even wanted United to release him from his contract so that he can join any club without them having to pay a transfer fee, but United refused to let go of the Portuguese goal machine.
