Marcell Ozuna, 31-year-old Atlanta Braves outfielder and designated hitter was arrested on DUI charges. According to the recently published arrest report, he was pulled over at 3:30 am August 19 in his Mercedes-Benz SUV after being detected speeding and travelling in both the left and right traffic lanes along Beaver Ruin Road in Norcross.

Ozuna was reportedly doing at least 90 mph in a 35 mph zone at the time of his arrest.

Bodycam footage obtained by Fox5 shows as soon as he approached the car, the driver said, “sorry, sorry, I’m Ozuna from the Braves.”

The officer smelled alcohol and noticed Ozuna’s eyes were red and watery. When the police questioned Ozuna why he was in Norcross, he said, for “the party.”

Ozuna showed the officer his Florida driver’s licence and MLB ID card, which showed he was a member of the Atlanta Braves.

When asked about his alcohol consumption, Ozuna responded, “you know, I’m fine,” before admitting to consuming “like three or four” Presidente beers.

Ozuna was given all three Standardized Field Sobriety Tests by the officer. He also tried to get a breath sample from Ozuna, but he refused, saying, “I can’t do that,” and requested the police to take him to jail.

Ozuna was arrested and taken to Gwinnett County Jail after officers suspected him of being under the influence.

Ozuna refused a blood test at the jail. Under the implied consent statute, the officer attempted to have Ozuna’s blood drawn nevertheless, but was told that no one was present to do so.

Ozuna was arrested and charged with DUI and failure to maintain a lane.

The Braves issued the following statement on Ozuna’s DUI arrest on Friday:

“The Atlanta Braves are aware of Marcell Ozuna’s arrest this morning and are still gathering all the facts pertaining to the incident. Our organization takes these matters very seriously and are obviously disappointed by the situation. As this is a legal matter, we will have no further comment until the process is complete.”
