Marcell Ozuna was arrested on DUI charges in Gwinnett County, jail records show. The 31-year-old failed to maintain the lane, a Gwinnett County Jail spokesperson told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Nicknamed “The Big Bear”, Marcell Ozuna Idelfonso is a professional baseball player from the Dominican Republic and plays for Major League Baseball (MLB) side Atlanta Braves. Formerly, he was with the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals, making his MLB debut in 2013 with the Marlins.

As of 2022, Ozuna’s net worth is believed to be around $10 million. Most of his wealth comes from his sports contracts and salaries. He signed a four-year deal with the Braves worth $65,000,000 and is going to receive a salary of $16,250,000, annually on average.

His previous contracts saw him make $12,250,000 with the Cardinals and $3,500,000 with Marlins when he was receiving the maximum payouts from his previous teams.

While Ozuna might command a hefty fee, the Braves are looking to get out from under the contract. Not only has the outfielder not performed on the pitch, but he’s also had issues off the field, including injuries and a charge of domestic assault against his wife.

The Braves can back out from the deal based on felony charges, but the way the Ozuna contract is designed ensures that the MLB side will have to face financial consequences if they don’t let the professional play out during his time with the Atlanta team.

After his domestic violence charge, Ozuna apologized to his fans and teammates upon return. He was welcomed back to Atlanta Braves, with teammate Ronald Acuna Jr saying, “You know, he’s a such a good ballplayer. You know, on and off the field and, you know, the things that happened off the field, those are challenges for everyone. Certain things that happen off the field, they can happen to anyone”, ESPN reported.
