Marketa Vondrousova, a tennis player from the Czech Republic, won her first Wimbledon title on Saturday with a shocking victory over Ons Jabeur in the women’s singles final.

Vondrousova defeated Jabeur 6-4, 6-4 on Centre Court to become the lowest-ranked female player to win The Championship.

Who are Marketa Vondrousova’s Parents?

David Vondrouš and Jindřiška Anderlová gave birth to Markéta Vondrouová. Her father, David, who had previously played tennis for pleasure, taught her the sport when she was four years old. Her mother, Jindřiška, was a volleyball player for SK Slavia Prague in the renowned Extraliga.

Jindřiška also has a sporting background. Frantiek Frk, her father and Marketa’s maternal grandfather won the 1935 Czechoslovak national pentathlon championship.

Vondrouová’s parents split when she was three years old. However, despite this, both of her parents, as well as her stepfather, all remained active in her life and supported her progress as a tennis player.

When she was younger, Vondrouová excelled in a variety of sports, including skiing, soccer, table tennis, and floorball. When she grew up, she started concentrating on tennis. In 2006, she went to a national mini-tennis tournament in Prague. Following the event, Vondrouová and her family returned to the Island to practice at the location. During this time, she trained five days each week.

Markéta Vondrouová has had a career-high ranking of 14, which she attained in July 2019. The 2019 French Open saw Vondrouová finish second, marking her as the first teenager to play in a Major final in almost a decade. After participating in four finals, she won a singles title. She also earned a silver medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021.
